Stress urinary incontinence is the inability to control urine (leaking urine) on
coughing, jumping, sneezing, laughing ..etc. This is normally due to the drop of
the urinary bladder wall and the urethra due to weak pelvic floor muscles which happens
with age, difficult normal or operative deliveries. The valve like mechanism is lost
making urine leak on slight increase of the abdominal or pelvis pressure.
The problem
can vary from mild, moderate to severe depending on the degree of prolapse (drop)
of the bladder. The treatment can be surgical, pelvic floor exercise, surgical tape.
Botox has also been used to treat SUI.
The International Survey
In our Survey, It was carried out with conjunction of the world known Q-Med. Q-Med
has been carrying out the survey to assess the improvement in quality of life regarding
stress incontinence before and after treatment for patients age 35-57. This was an
international multi centre survey since January 2007 in Sweden, Germany, Austria,
France ..etc. We were the only UK centre for this survey. Due to the success of patients
received the treatment, we have decided to make the treatment available to more patients
in UK.
The Treatment
The treatment is simple, quick and had no side effects. It is carried
out under local anaesthetic and only takes about 15 minutes. The treatment is given
vaginally by using a very tiny needle to inject Restylane around the urethra (usually
no pain is felt). Restylane has been on the market since 1996 and 4 million injections
used world wide. It has been used extensively on the face to treat aging wrinkles.
The results of the treatment will be assessed immediately and further improvement
with continue. It is expected that the treatment will last 1-2 years.
The treatment
is worth about £1000 pounds but will be given at special launch offer (50% discount),
to patients for a limited period only. You will need to have an initial consultation
and the treatment will be explained fully if you are suitable for this type of treatment.
Unlike Botox, you bladder control’s is fully intact. The aim of the treatment is
to strengthen your valve control of your bladder.
Improvement is noticed immediately after the treatment but you can improve further during the following 2 months or so.
After your consultation, you can book your treatment which can be performed later but at the reduced (up to 3 months if you so wish) special offer fee.
Just remember that stress incontinence can cause a urine odour, irritation, cystitis, urine infection and can be a reason for sexual dysfunction ...etc.
